Heavy Sleepers

Is Purple worth the money for heavier sleepers

So I'm about 280lbs and need a new mattress. Purple keeps popping up in my feed but the price is nuts. Is it actually worth it for bigger folks or am I just paying for the hype? Looking for real experiences, not marketing fluff.

I'm 250 and tried the Purple 3 in a store. Felt supportive but weirdly soft at the the same time. Didn't pull the trigger because of the price. Curious what others say.

Honestly, the grid thing is a gimmick for heavy people. It collapsed under my 300lb buddy after like 8 months. He's back on a cheap innerspring now.

See, that's what I'm afraid of. But he might've gotten a dud? Purple has a warranty.

Warranty doesn't cover 'normal wear' from being heavy, I bet. And you have to pay shipping to return. Not worth the gamlbe imo.

midnightSnackAttack

Yeah, the return shipping thing is what gets me. $200+ just to try it? That's a lot of pizza money.

I'm 270 and have had the Purple 4 for a year. Zero issues. I do rotate it monthly and have a solid bed frame. If you're coming from a cheap foam mattress it'll feel like a huge upgrade. But if you're alreay on a decent spring mattress, maybe not $3k bewtter.

A year isn't that long though. Check back in 3 years.

PancakeWizard

Fair. I'll set a reminder, lol.

For heavy sleepers, edge support on Purple is pretty meh. If you sit on the edge to put socks on, you'll feel it. That alone killed it for me.

midnightSnackAttack

Edge support is a good point. I do sit on the edge a lot. Maybe I need to look at hybrids instead.

I ended up going with a WinkBed after this thread scared me off Purple. So far so good, but it's only been two months.
