Stomach Sleeping

Anyone over 300 lbs sleep comfortably on their stomach?

I'm around 320 lbs and mostly a stomach sleeper. My current mattress is causing shoulder and lower back pain. I'm looking for something that won't bottom out under my hips and will let me breathe comfortably. Anyone with similar weight have a setup that actually works? Not interested in just general mattress advice, I need specifics from people who've been there.

I'm 6'2" and 340. Stomach sleeping is tough because your hips sink and your spine arches. I had to switcch to a hybrid with a firm support layer. It made a difference but it's not perfect.

Try a mattress with zoned support. The firmer section under your hips keeps you from sagging.

Have you considered sleeping on your side? I know you asked about stomach sleeping but at your weight it might be easier to get comfortable. No judgment, just a thought.

I'm 310 and sleep on my stomach. I use a firm latex mattress from SleepOnLatex. It's been about a year and it's holding up well. The key for me was getting a mattress that doesn't have a thick pillow top. Those just create a hammock effect. Also, I put a pillow under my pelvis to keep my lower back from sctraining. It takes some getting used to but it helps.

How long have you had your current mattress? Sometimes a mattress just wears out unevenly.

I'm 280, so a bit under your weight, but I've had good luck with the Titan by Brooklyn Bedding. It's designed for heavier people. Firm but has some give. Might be wort a look.

The Titan is a good suggestion. I tried it but it was too firm for my liking. I ended up with the Avocado firm. It's a little softer but still supportive. I'm 300 lbs and sleep on my stomach occasionally. No issues with bottoming out tbh.

I second the zoned support. Also, a mattress topper can help fine-tune the firmness. A firm latex topper might give you that extra push without changing the whole mattress.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I should add that I'm a hot sleeper, so memory foam is probably out. The latex and hybrid suggestions sound promising.

SinkerSwimmer

Latex sleeps cooler than memory foam for sure. But if you're really hot, consider a mattress with coils and a breathable cover. Also, a wool topper can help regulate temperature.

I forgot to mention I use a cooling pillow and bamboo sheets. Not mattress related but it helps.

Have you you tried a body pillow? It might help you stay on your side more, which could be more comfortable.

What's your budget? That might narrow down the options.

GravelPilot

Budget is around $1500 for a queen. I'd rather spend more if it lasts, but that's my limit for now.

With that budget, you could get a decent latex hybrid. Check out SleepEZ or Arizona Premium Mattress. They have models in that range.
