We're both plus-size, total around 600 lbs. Our current memory foam is a crater after 2 years. Need something that won't sag, ideally not $5k. Any real-world suggestions?
My wife and I need a mattress that can handle 600 pounds
Latex is the only thing that held up for us. We're ~550 combined. Got a Sleep on Latex medium and it's been solid for 3 years, no indentations. It's firm though, might need a topper if you like plush.
Have you checked the warranty fine print? Most 'heavy duty' beds void coverage above 500 lbs total. That's how they get you.
We're around 520 and went with a Titan Luxe. It's designed for bigger folks, has reinforced edges. Two years in, still good. Not super luxurious but gets the job done for under $2k.
Thanks for the Titan rec. How's the edge support? My wife sits on the edge to put on shoes and our current one is mush.
Edge is decent, way better than our old Casper. It does soften a bit over time but no roll-off. If edge is your #1 priority, maybe look at a latex hybrid with coils.
Have you tried not being heavy? Kidding. Seriously, DIY latex layers from Sleep on Latex or Arizona Premium might be the most durable per dollar. You can replace just the top layer when it wears out.
Second DIY latex. We diid 3" soft over 6" firm. It's been 4 years. Just flip/rotate the top layer every 6 months. Total was around $1800 for a king.
If you go latex, Make sure the foundation is solid. Slats no more than 3" apart. We learned that the hard way—mattress was fine, foundation bowed.
