What's the best mattress for someone around 350 lbs

I'm 6'1" and 350, side/back sleeper. My old pillowtop is shot and I wake up with lower back pain. Budget is around $1500. What actually holds up without turning into a hammock?

Don't get get a memory foam bed from Amazon. I sank like a stone by month 6.

I'm 320 and got a Titan by Brooklyn Bedding. Cheaper than your budget and still going strong after 3 years. It’s firm but not brick-level. Worth a look.

Latex might be worth it if you can stretch the budget. I’m 360 and my Dunlop latex has zero sagging after 4 years. It feels like a dense slab of tire rubber though, so try before you buy

What’s the story with cooling? I run hot and memory foam sounds like a sauna.

InsomniacInSeattle

Most beds sleep hot, not just foam. Get bamboo sheets and a cooling mattress pad. Cheaper than buying a bed with 'cooling gel' buzzwords.

No mattress will fix a bad foundation. Make sure yohr frame has a center support leg. I killed a good bed in 18 months because my box spring was a joke.

I've heard the Big Fig is specifically for heavy sleepers. no personal experience though, looks like it was built for a military bunker.

Seconding the foundation point. The Titan needs a solid base, not a flexible box spring. Also, yes, the Big Fig is a tank. A friend has one but she says it's like sleeping on a very expensive boulder.

1500 is tight for something that lasts. I’d check for refurbished or floor models at local mattress stores. just make sire they have a real warranty, not a 90-day joke.

VelvetThunder

Sleeping on a boulder is better than sleeping in a crater. But latex is heavy and you might need two people people to rotate it. I manage solo but it’s a workout.

GrumpyGamerDad

Appreciate the input. I’m leaning toward trying a Titan or finding a latex store. The Big Fig is over budget, but maybe I can find a deal.

MidnightSnacker

Check Costco online. They sometimes have the Titan or similar at a discount. Their return policy is basically 'bring it back whenever, even if it's haunted.'

DonutLord

Haunted mattresses are a steal. But seriously, Costco returns are the only reason I’d buy a bed online. No restocking fees.

SoggyCereal

Also check local liquidators. I got a $2500 firm hybrid for $900 because it was a floor model. just kake sure you can inspect it for stains or damage.

PixelPusher

If you go latex, make sure it’s Dunlop, not Talalay. Talalay is softer and you’ll sink. Learned that the hard way.

VelvetThunder

Talalay is fine if you get a high density. But yeah, Dunlop is safer for the big guys. And it stinks for a week. My whole apartment smelled like a rubber tree farm.
