Anyone happy with their mattress from Sam's Club

I'm 6'3" and about 280 lbs, and I've been through three mattresses in five years. I keep seeing Sam's Club has some decent prices on hybrid and memory foam models, but I'm skeptical about buying a mattress from a warehouse store. Has anyone here actually been happy with one long-term? Specifically for heavier sleepers. Not looking for a showroom pitch, just real experiences.

Bought the Member's Mark hybrid king about two years ago. I'm around 250 and it's held up fine. No sagging yet. The edge support is mediocre but I don't sit on the edge much.

MountainGoat77

Which model though? They cycle through different ones. The one I looked at last year felt like a brick.

TumbleweedSally

we got a serta from sams club maybe 3 yrs back. im 230 and my husband is 310. its already got a dip in the the middle. not impressed.

GravelAndGrit

Mine was the 14 inch gel memory foam hybrid. They might not carry it anymore. The return policy is what sold me honestly, 10 year warranty through the manufacturer but Sam's took it back no questions when the first one arrived with a tear in the cover.

I'm not a heavy sleeper myself but my brother is about 300 and he swears by the Member's Mark. He did say he had to add a topper after a year because the top foam softened up. That seems reasonable for the price.

Warehouse mattresses are generally a gamble for bigger folks. The foam densities in those budget hybrids are often under 2 lbs per cubic foot. At 280 you'll compress that top layer fast. If you go that route, look for something with a higher density support core.

RustyPinecone

Do you know if Sam's lists the foam density anywhere? I haven't seen it on the product pages.

DustyBookShelf

Usually not. That's part of the problem. You might have to call and ask, and half the time the repp doesn't know either.

I'm 270 and bought the Member's Mark 12 inch hybrid in 2021. It was fine for the first 18 months and then started feeling soft in the hip area. Still sleepable but I wouldn't buy it again.

My wife and I bought a queen from Sam's about four years ago. I'm 235. It's been totally fine. I think the key is rotating it and using a good mattress protector. The people who complain might be skipping that step.

TumbleweedSally

we rotated ours every few months. still sagged. so.

NeonTractor

Yeah the rotation thing only goes so far when your frame is weak either. Check your box spring or base too. A lot of people blame the mattress when it's the foundation.

GravelAndGrit

Fair point. I put mine on a solid platform, no box spring. I do think that helped.

CoffeeFirst_ThenEverything

Does Sam's still do that thing where you can return mattresses within a certain window? I know some people abuse it but for heavy sleepers it's kind of a trial period, though.

MountainGoat77

They do but it varies by location and whether it was shipped. In store you might get 90 days. Online is different. Read the fine print before you buy.

I'm leaning tow ard trying the Member's Mark hybrid and just watching for the softening. At that price it's worth a shot if the return policy covers me. The density info is the missing piece.

DustyBookShelf

If you do, check the law tag when it arrives. Sometimes the foam specs are listed there even if they're not not online.
