Just got a split king adjustable base and my wife and I each want a remote on our nightstands. The sales guy said you can pair multiple remotes, but the manual only mentions one. Anyone actually done this? I don't want to break the thing before we even sleep on it.
Can two remotes control the same adjustable base?
Depends on the brand. What model is it? Most of the big names (Leggett, Reverie) let you pair a second remote if it's the same frequency. But some cheap ones are locked to one remote only.
I tried this on a serta base and it worked fine. Just hold the pair button on the control box until it beeps, then press the pair button on the new remote. Took like 30 seconds.
Or just use the app if it has one. Our remote lives in a drawer now.
Not everyone wants their phone in the bedroom. Also half these apps are garbage.
Fair. But the OP asked about two remotes, not an app. GrumpyGopher, did you check the control box? Sometimes there's a tiny sticker that says how many remotes it supprots.
My wife and I just fought over one remote for a week until I found the second one under the bed. So yes, two remotes exist. Good luck.
I work in furniture retail (not saying where) and honestly the pairing process is usually in the manual under 'adding a handset.' If your manual doesn't list it, call the manufacturer, not the store. Store employees guess half the time.
That's a little harsh. But also true.
On our adjustable base, both remotes work but only one at a time. Meaning if you press the other remote while the first is mid-motion, it stops. Weird but fine.
That's actually a safety feature so you don't fight the motor. Sounds normal.
Yeah, but if you're both lying there adjusting your own head sections on a split king, you want independence. The split bases usually have two separate control boxes so you'd need two remotes per side if you want full control. Which is a lot of remotes.
This. OP, is it a true split king with two separate bases or one base with two head sections? That changes the answer.
I just checked my manual. It says 'maximum two remotes per control box.' So you're probably fine.
also if it doesn't work, unplug it for a minute and try again. That fixes 90% of remote pairing issues. The other 10% is dead batteries.
Thanks everyone. It's a split king with two bases, so i'll try pairing a second remote to each side. If it explodes I'll report back.
