Dropped $2800 on a "luxury firm" mattress six months ago. I'm 260 lbs and a side sleeper. Every morning my shoulder and hip are screaming. The mattress feels like it's already developing a divot where I sleep. Is this just what happens or did I get fleeced? I'm tired of waking up feeling like I slept on a park bench.
I bought an expensive mattress and still wake up sore
Firm isn't always better for heavy folks. Sometimes the foam collapses unevenly and you end up in a hammock position. What brand?
lol @ "luxury firm" being code for "we charged you extra for the same foam"
2800 and six six months? Check the warranty. Most of them prorate it so you get like forty bucks back after a year. Rude.
Side sleeping at 260 lbs is brutal on shoulders. The mattress might not be soft enough at the shoulder area while still supportive at the hips. Have you tried a pillow between your knees or a different pillow height? Cheap fix before you throw more money at it.
Divot at six months means the foam is trash.I'd be raising hell. What's the density on the comfort layer? If they won't tell you, that's your answer.
I'm 310 and went with a latex hybrid. Never going back to memory foam. It doesn't slleep hot and it doesn't crater. Expensive but it's been three years and still flat.
latex hybrid is the answer for bigger folks honestly. But they're not cheap either. Return window closed?
You're not crazy. "Firm" foam often just means a thin stiff layer over mush. Feels great in the store for five minutes. Then it breaks in and you're sleeping in a cereal bowl.
Also rotate that thing every couple months. A lot of people never do and then wonder why the middle sags.
Have you tried putting a board Under it? Not joking. Sometimes the box spring or slats are the weak link and the mattress gets blamed.
It's on the matching foundation they sold me, so if that's the problem I'll be extra annoyed. I'll dig out the receipt and check the foam density spec. Probably should've asked before handing over a cr edit card.
