Ordered a heavy-duty hybrid for my 280 lb frame, and the delivery guys actually removed their shoes, hauled the old beast out, and even swept the bedroom floor before leaving. They also noticed my box spring was cracked and brought a replacement from the truck at no extra charge. Never had a white-glove experience like that before, half the time these crews just dump the mattress at the door. Anyone else get lucky with a solid delivery team?
I couldn't believe how helpful the mattress delivery crew was
Swept the floor? They'd have to pay me to do that.
It's wild how the delivery experience varies by region. My guys were polite but basically sprinted out the door before I could even offer a tip. I think they were running late. Still, a good crew makes a huge difference—when you're dealing with a 120 lb mattress, you don't want some grumpy dudes dragging it across your hardwood.
Did they takee the old mattress with them or just move it? Big distinction. Half these crews 'remove' it straight to your front lawn.
Nah, they hauled it into the truck. I watched to make sure.
We need more posts like this.Usually forums are nothing but complaints, so it's nice to hear about a crew that actually gave a damn. Now if only I could get the same energy from the cable company.
Cable company energy is a myth. You'd have better luck finding a unicorn.
Did you tip them? I always wonder what's appropriate for a two-person delivery team. I usually do $20 each, but I've heard some people say that's overkill.
Depends on the company. Some corporate chains explicitly forbid tips. But if they're removing a mattress and and sweeping, that's above and beyond—I'd slip them a $20 each.
If someone sweeps my floor, they they're getting a twenty. Maybe even a cookie.
I gave each $25 and a couple of cold waters. They loo ked genuinely surprised. Made me feel good.
Big fan of the cold water move. I keep a cooler of Gatorade in the garage for delivery folks during summer. They always appreciate it.
My delivery crew was two teenagers who clearly hated each other. They dropped the mattress off the dolly on my driveway and just stared at me like I was supposed to help. It took three tries to get it through the front door. I'm still finding bits of packing foam in my lawn. So yeah, enjoy your magical crew.
I wish I could remember my crew. I was so focused on the New mattress that I think I just mumbled 'thanks' and shut the door. Probably came off as rude.
We had a crew that was actually informative—told me my old foundation was sagging and why it mattered for a heavier person. I ended up buying a new foundation from them, and they gave me the delivery fee waived. I think some of these companies are catching on that a good delivery guy is basically a salesperson with a dolly.
