So I picked up this hybrid mattress last month. It's got a layer of memory foam on top, then a layer of what they call "micro coils," and then a base layer of regular pocket coils. I'm a bigger guy, around 280, and I'm wondering if this setup is actually going to hold up or if I just bought a fancy marshmallow. The first week felt great but now I'm sinking in more than I'd like. Anyone have experience with this kind of dual-coil design?
My hybrid has memory foam above two different coil layers
Two coil layers is usually a gimmick unless the top one is really firmer. What's the ILD on that memory ffoam?
I had a similar one from a big box brand. The microcoils collapsed in like 6 montrhs. I'm 240. Hope yours is better built.
Memory foam over coils is pretty common but usually it's just one coil layer. Two different coil layers sounds like marketing. Did they give you a weight limit? Most hybrids cap around 250-300 per side.
Marshmallow with extra steps
To add to my first post, if you're sinking after a month, the foam is already softening. That's fast. Check if there's a warranty for body impressions. Most require 1 inch or more.
i'm 310 and I tried one of those dual coil hybrids in store. Felt okay for 5 minutes but I could tell it wouldn't last. Went with a latex hybrid instead. No memory foam. Might be worth looking into if you can still return.
Yeah latex is firmer but sLeeps cooler. My next one will be latex for sure.
Also check the foundation. If you put it on a flexible box spring that can make it feel softer. Slats or a solid base are better
Did you rotate it yet? Might help even out the sink.
Rotating won't fix foam softening. But it's free so Try it.
What brand is it? Some of the online ones have decent return policies. If it's only a month old, maybe you can swap for a firmer model.
It's a Nectar Hybrid. I think they have a 365 night trial but I need to check if the dual coil thing is even something they still sell. Might just return it and go latex. Thanks for the input everyone.
If you do return, don't let them talk you into a "comfort exchange" fee. Those can be $100+.
