My bed gets so hot that I keep changing sleeping positions

So I'm a bigger guy (around 280) and every night I wake up multiple times because the mattress under me feels like a heating pad. I flip from side to side, sometimes stomach, but nothing helps for long. It's not night sweats, it's the mattress itself trapping heat. Anyone else deal with this? I'm losing my mind and my sleep.

Have you tried sleeping on top of a foil emergency blanket? Sounds dumb but it reflects heat back. Cheap experiment before buying a new bed.

What Mattress do you have now? Memory foam is the worst for this. I'm 250 and switched to a latex hybrid, and it made a huge difference.

I'm not heavy but I also flip like a pancake on a griddle. Following because I want to know if a cooling pad actually works or if it's just marketing.

Cooling pads are hit or miss. The ones with active airflow (like a fan inside) are better than passive gel. Gel just feels cool for 10 mins then it's done.

Get a bed with a built-in air conditioner. Or sleep in the freezer. Seriously though, have you considered just sleeping on the floor? Not ideal but cooler.

Floor is too hard. But a cot with a mesh surface might work. My uncle uses one of those for camping in summer and swears by it.

I had the same issue and ended up getting a BedJet.Pricey but it blows cool air under the covers. Not for everyone but if you're desperate... Also check your sheets. Synthetic blends trap heat like crazy. Switch to 100% cotton or linen.

Forgot to mention: a mattress with coils and a thin comfort layer breathes better. If you're on a budget, try adding a latex topper (not memory foam) and see if that helps. But honestly, if it's the mattress itself, might be time to replace.
