What if you only notice the sagging after the trial ends?

So I'm a bigger guy, about 280lbs, and I've been through a few mattresses. I finally bought a heavy-duty hybrid that felt amazing in the store. The 100-night trial seemed generous. I slept on it for the full trial period, and it felt fine, maybe a little soft, but I thought it was just me adjusting. Now it's 6 months in and there's a visible dip where I sleep. The warranty says 'visible indentation greater than 1.5 inches' but of course when I measure in the morning it's like 1.2, and by evening it's closer to 1.4. Has anyone actually successfully claimed sagging after the trial? What did you do? I feel like I was tricked by the trial not being long enough for my weight.

Most trial periods are a joke for heavier folks. The foam takes weeks to break in, and by the time you notice it's shot you're past the return window. I don't think it's a conspiracy, just that companies know 100 nights is long enough to hook you but short enough that they don't eat the return.

1.2 inches? That's not sag, that's just your body imprint. Sorry buddy, but you're probably out of luck. Warranty claims are designed to be denied.

What brand? Some are worse than others. If it's one of those bed-in-a-box hybrids they all sag for heavy people eventually. Not always, but often enough.

I had a similar situation with a different brand. Trial was 120 nights and I thought everything was was fine. Around month 8, I started waking up with lower back pain. I measured the sag and it was right on the edge of their warranty limit. They sent an inspector who said it was 'normal wear.' Waste of time. I ended up putting a piece of plywood under the mattress and thaat helped for a while, but eventually I just bought a cheaper firm mattress and replaced it every couple years. Not ideal but at least I'm not out $2k every time.

Have you tried flipping or rotating it? Some hybrids are no-flip, but if it's got a flip side it might buy you some time.

This is why I only buy fraom places with generous return policies and no restocking fees. If they want my business, they can take the mattress back after 6 months if it sags. Otherwise I'm not interested. OP, did you put a mattress protector on it? Sometimes that can affect warranty claims (they'll blame stains or something). But honestly, 1.2 inches is probably within spec. You might be stuck

No stains, always used a protector. Rotated it every couple months, but it's a hybrid so flipping isn't an option. I'm going to try to file a claim anyway and see what happens. Worst they can say is no.

Let us know how it goes. I'm curious if they actually honor it or if They just give you a discount on a new one. That's usually their move.
