Can you vacuum a mattress topper without damaging it?

I have a 3-inch memory foam topper and I've been vacuuming it with a brush attachment every couple of weeks. It seems fine, but I'm worried the suction might be compressing the foam or wearing it out over time. Does anyone know if this is safe long-term?

I use the upholstery tool with the brush, no problem. The suction won't compress memory foam permanently. Just don't use the crevice tool or press down hard.

It depends on the topper. Cheap memory foam can tear if you drag a stiff brush across it. I'd stick to a low-suction setting and a soft brush.

Vacuuming is fine for surface dust., But if you're trying to clean stains or odors, a vacuum won't do much. For heavy sleepers, sweat and oils can soak in deeper. I'd spot clean with a mild detergent and let it air dry completely before vacuuming again.

Been vacuuming my latex topper for two years with a brush attachment. No visible damage. The key is not to let the vacuum head get too hot or press too hard. Just glide it over.

Also, check the topper's care tag. Some manufacturers explicitly say not to vacuum. Mine says spot clean only.

Thanks, all. I'll try a lower suction setting and skip the brush if it's too stiff. Appreciate the tips.

One thing I've noticed: vacuuming can pull the topper cover loose if it's a removable one. Not a big deal, just re-tuck it after.

Also, if you have pets, vacuuming helps with hair but won't get the dander out. For that you need to wash the cover or use a spray.

I'd avoid vacuuming if the topper has any tears or peeling. The suction can make it worse. Otherwise, a gentle vacuum is fine.
