I weigh around 330 and every mattress I've tried either bottoms out or turns into a sauna by 2am. Memory foam is the worst for heat but latex was too bouncy. Any other heavy sleepers found something that doesn't sleep like a plastic bag?
I'm 330 lbs and can't get comfortable without overheating
Have you tried a latex hybrid with a coio base? I'm 310 and the coils give support while the latex top sleeps way cooler than memory foam. Not cheap though.
330 here. I gave up on foam entirely. Pocket coils + a thin cotton cover was the only thing that stopped the night sweats. Still rotate the mattress every coupple months though.
This is gonna sound dumb but have yyou tried sleeping with a wool mattress pad? My husband is 320 and it made a bigger difference than the actual mattress swap. Wool breathes.
Not dumb, I'll look into that. Did it change the firmness feel at all? I need something pretty firm underneath.
Wool pads can add a little softness but if you get a thin one it's minimal. Just don't buy the fluffy one.
Sleeping hot at that weight is usually about pressure and sinking. If the mattress lets you sink, you get trapped heat. Firmness matters more than the material label. A lot of "cooling gel" foam is straight marketing.
^^ this. I wasted money on a "cooling" memory foam topper and it was worse than nothing.
Have you looked at the Titan by Brooklyn Bedding? It's specifically built for bigger sleepers, has a cooling cover, and doesn't feel like quicksand. I'm 280 and it's been solid.
Second the Titan idea.My husband's on one and I don't wake up next to a furnace anymore. The edge support is also legit for the weight.
Whatever you get, put it on a slatted frame not a solid platform. Airflow underneath makes a real difference and almost nobody mentions it.
Good calls all around. Gonna check out the Titan and order a thin wool pad. If I still wake up sweaty I'll come back and complain.
