Ordered a heavy-duty mattress last week. The salesperson specifically said I'd get a call the day before delivery to confirm the window. That day came and went with no call. I took the day off work for nothing. When I called them, they said the driver would still come but couldn't give me a time. Has anyone else dealt with this?
I was promised a delivery call the day before and never got one
That's frustrating. Did they at least show up on the day?
I had something similar with a different company. The call never came, but the truck showed up at 7am anyway. I was still in pajamas. It seems like the call is more of a courtesy than a guarantee, unfortunately. I'd call back annd ask to speak to a supervisor, not just the regular customer service line.
No call here either. I think some of these delivery dispatchers are just overloaded. Not an excuse, but it happens a lot.
They did show up, but at 4pm. I had been waiting since 8am. The driver said he didn't have my number on his sheet. I'm mostly annoyed because I wasted a vacation day.
Document everything. If they promised a call and didn't deliver, you might have grounds to ask for a partial refund or some kind of credit. I had to escalate twice before I got anything, but it worked.
Yeah, the driver's sheet thing is common. The dispatch and the driver don't always communicate well. Still, it's on the company to get it right.
I've started asking for the dispatch number directly when I order. Sometimes you can call them the morning of and get a tighter window. Doesn't fix the missed call, but it gives you more control.
OrionPax, that's a good tip. I'll try that next time.
If they keep giving you the runaround, a chargeback might be your last resort. But try the supervisor route first, like Marla said.
