Ordered a BigFig King for my husband (6'4", 280). Delivery window was 2-6pm. At 5:45 I get a text: "Unable to locate address. Rescheduling." We live in a normal apartment building with a giant number on the front. I even left instructions: "Buzz 4B, elevator to the left." Now I have to wait another week and my husband is sleeping on the old saggy queen like a sad giant. Anyone else deal with this? Do I call the freight company or the mattress company first?
The delivery guys couldn't find my building and gave up
Call the mattress company. The freight company will just tell you to call the retailer. Also, next time tape a neon sign to the door.
This happened to me with a different brand. The driver claimed my street didn't exist. I live on a main road. I think some of them just give up when they're behind schedule and use 'can't find it' as an excuse.
BigFig heavy sleeper here. Love the mattress, hate the delivery. Ours came via a third-party freight company and they left it in the lobby because they 'couldn't fit it in the elevator.' It's a king mattress, not a piano.
Update: called the mattress company, they were actually helpful. Said they'd file a complaint with the freight company and expedite the redeliver. But still a week out. I'm going to tape a giant arrow to the building.
Honestly this is why I bought a mattress in a box. Yeah, it's not as supportive for heavy folks but at least FedEx can find my house. Mostly.
SoggyWaffle, not all heavy sleepers can do boxed. My husband is 300lbs and we tried a Leesa. It was like sleeping in a hammock after 6 months. BigFig is one of the few that holds up. Worth the delivery hassle.
Also, check if the freight company has a local terminal. Sometimes you can just go pick it up yourself if you have a truck. Annoying but faster.
No truck. And I'm not renting a U-Haul for a king mattress. That's how marriages end
You joke but I once helped a friend move a king mattress on top of a Honda Civic. Ratchet straps and prayer. 0/10 do not recommend.
OP,when they reschedule make sure you get the local dispatch number, not the national call center. The local guys actually know the area and can tell you roughly when they'll be there. National just reads a script.
Also leave a note on the building door with your phone number. Sometimes drivers don't have access to the delivery instructions. I know, it's dumb.
Or just stand outside and wave like a lunatic. Works every time.
I'll try the local dispatch number and a paper sign. If they fail again I'm blaming this thread.
That's fair.
